New Pilot Orientation

Your starting point with Air SeaTac Virtual

What do I need before I join?

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 - A Century of Flight or Microsoft Flight Simulator X (the choice is yours) is a must. If you don't have MSFS, you can purchase it at any leading computer store or on-line computer outlet.

What should I have / be able to do?

  • You should be able to fly (takeoff, navigate, and land) in Flight Simulator. If you have no experience, we recommend that you read the tutorials which are located within the Flight Simulator program or read the navigation, landing, and takeoff sections in your Flight Simulator manual. In addition, help with any aspect of virtual flight is available from any member of staff and within the various sections of this website.
  • You should be able to install aircraft into Microsoft Flight Simulator. If you need help installing aircraft, read the readme files contained within the aircraft zip file or seek assistance in our message Forum.
  • You should familiarize yourself with Air SeaTac operations.
  • Be able to fly at least one flight every 30 days, do not join and just sit inactive. If you remain inactive for longer than 30 days your pilot ID and log will be suspended and deleted shortly thereafter. If your ID is deleted because of inactivity, you must re-apply to join again and you will be re-assigned a new ID. If you plan to remain inactive for greater than 30 days, please "Apply for Leave" and let us know.

Online events

Air SeaTac Virtual utilises a dedicated FSHost server for it's online activities. These activities include monthly flights with multiple hops, a 24 Hour event, Tours and spot flights offered by staff members. All flights will be announced via the Air SeaTac News and Events well in advance of the event date. Certain events may be offered with full real-time ATC, utilising our very own Teamspeak voice server. Flying online is optional however, but does add to the realism and will give you an opportunity to meet with other members. Please note however, the servers are a shared resource, and should be treated with respect.

Equipment

Various aircraft are available in the Air SeaTac Virtual livery, covering long, medium and short haul, with additional aircraft for the cargo operations, charter services and bush flying. The Fleet can be updated at any time as new models become available, we even have a Classics fleet available for that nostalgic flight. You can download all our  aircraft from the Fleet Hangar.

Flights

Choose your OWN FLIGHTS. Air SeaTac Virtual does not assign flights. For you to remain active you must post one flight report each month. (Additional flight reports are optional).

Remember

The most important aspect of joining Air SeaTac Virtual is to have fun while you expand your knowledge of virtual flight.

We welcome feedback from all our members whatever your level of experience. And remember, it is you that shapes the future path of Air SeaTac Virtual.
